Summer is packed with traditional festivals, spectacular fireworks displays, and outdoor events.

Comfortable Sightseeing Weather

April, May, October, and November

These months offer mild temperatures, lower humidity, and ideal conditions for exploring Tokyo on foot.

Hotel prices are often lower than during the peak cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons.

LOCAL TIP

My personal favorite months are May and November.

The weather is usually comfortable, humidity is low, and it’s much easier to spend the entire day sightseeing. You can enjoy long walks without the intense summer heat, and there are generally fewer crowds than during the cherry blossom season.

If your travel dates are flexible and you’re looking for the best overall experience, I’d personally recommend visiting in May or November.

Final Thoughts

There’s no bad time to visit Tokyo—each season offers something unique.

If you’re visiting for the first time, April, May, October, and November provide the best balance of pleasant weather, beautiful scenery, and comfortable sightseeing.

If seeing cherry blossoms is at the top of your bucket list, plan your trip for late March or early April, and be sure to book your flights and accommodation well in advance.

Whenever you decide to visit, Tokyo has something special waiting for you.
